Search Engine Optimization (SEO), I'm not sure how many of us really know about SEO. Sometimes when I spoke to someone about SEO, I would rarely get anyone to know what SEO mean. They would say WHAT IS THAT? Alright, I've decided to write something about SEO today and hopefully this could provide some useful information for people who still do not know what SEO is and why SEO is so important to your site.
When I started to setup a website, the biggest headache is not about programming, error, feature, content or design. The biggest problem I faced was that you have a website and who the hell know they exist, it's just like selling "ICE COLD TIGER BEER" in Sahara desert where there would be no one visiting. Yup, there are thousand of ways to increase website traffic, but the most effective ways is using search engine to draw traffic to your website. Hope you get some idea now what is SEO.
Sometimes, I do get asked by people as they know I’m running several sites, they would asked, how did you get Google to index your sites? I would say Googlebot came, take and go. I didn’t do anything (This is probably for new setup site); you wouldn’t know what they take and how they are going to index your site to be place in their search engine. You wouldn’t know how they ranked the site to be place on the First page or maybe several hundred pages behind. Many that we know thinks you got to pay (not referring to Google Adwords) to be listed on the first page first link? Alright, it’s actually not, SEO is what it meant for, knowing all the myths that search engines like and don’t like, make your site to be more search engine friendly.
When we talk about search engine like and dont' like, please take the don't seriously, you wouldn't want to mess with search engine, if they don't like you, they would just banned your site, and all I can say, that's the end of your hardwork. Since google is the top search engine, I would refer Google, visit Google Guidelines for more information. If somehow your site was not being indexed by Google, probably some problem with your site here.
What is Search Engine Optimization SEO actually is?
Search Engine Optimization is known as making your site to be more friendly to search engine. so that search engine will visit your site more frequent and index your site to be listed in higher rank. Some of the method for effective SEO is using the right keyword in your content and also HTML code(Picture Title). Organize and designing your site properly (such as minimize your site using frame or flash).

Search engine is important because 85% of website you see today is being traffic by search engines. Around 70% of searchers don't go to page 2 of search results. 42% of users will click on the no 1. result. 81% of searchers find new website through search engine.

How search engine decide my site to put in first page result?
Search engine has complex algorithms to determine whether your site is useful and should be included in the search engine's search results. A "Spiders" or "Robots" send by search engine is to crawl your site and index your contents, with the information, search engine will determine your contents ranking. You can get high ranking only if your content is relevant by search engine base on keywords. (The decision also depends on Pagerank and Keyword prominent on your content).
What is pagerank?
Pagerank is introduced by Google to determine how popular the site is. To determine how popular the site is, it depend on how many links from other relevant website link to the site, the more link (inbound links) the site has, the more important it is and the higher its ranking. Which mean if the site has more link from others site. It mean that the site is important enough to stay in higher rank. Also, if the site was being link by higher pagerank, the site will get a higher pagerank as well. Pagerank is just one of the method use by search engine to determine your site pagerank. Even if you have a good pagerank and lack of other method search engine use to determine ranking, your site won't be in higher search engine ranking.
Tips for better pagerank:
- The link should come from relevant sites such as using the same keywords
- The link should come from higher pagerank site
- The link should come from a page that links to few other sites.
