Do you believe the best employee in your company do not use his/her work computer to do personal stuff? Admit it, majority of us with a work computer in office will at least use them for personal stuff once in awhile. Having been spending 8 hours or more sitting in front of a computer will definitely have the feeling of work computer is a home away from home. While our home computer is office away from office. Sometimes you may treat your office computer like your home computer and instead of using it for office stuff like sending email, preparing reports and others office related work, you may sometimes try to use it to read blog, check out latest clips video on youtube, update your friendster or myspace account, check your personal email account and also keeping in touch with your friends or relatives using instant messaging.

I don't think all company likes you to do your personal stuff with an office computer, most probably 20% of your working hours will spend using it for personal stuff, and this will definitely decrease productivity. Partly employers want us to work while we're at work and it could be reason that they are afraid putting company at risk such as viruses, hackers and compromises the company's computer network. So what they can do is asked the IT department to block us to do stuff which you can do it with your home computer.

It may sounds disappointed, but it can't stop you from continue doing it. Here are some tips you can follow to allow you bypassing block your IT department had set. There's always a risk there using these tips but it definitely will keep yourself and secure your job while you're at it.

1) Can't send big files
Your Worry: Sometimes you may need to send big files, such as vacation pictures or movie files, by doing so you may actually hits the limit sending anything larger than few megabytes. The reason company quota their staff amount of data to be kept on the server because they want to avoid filling up the server and slowing the server down which eventually decrease performance.

No Worry: You can use online services such as yousendit.com, dropsend.com, megaupload.com or rapidshare.com. It's free, you had no worry to send large file online anymore but to keep you stay safe, look for reputable and well known site to upload which will prevent you from hackers stealing your information. If the site offers little information and not much information about the site, don't use it.

If the site's backers aren't immediately apparent, there are other clues that can help. Look for a "secure" icon — in Internet Explorer, it's a little lock on the bottom of the screen — which signifies that the site is using encryption to protect its visitors' confidential information. A logo from a security company such as VeriSign Inc., meanwhile, means VeriSign has confirmed the identity of the site's owner.

2) Can’t download/installed software you wanted
Your Worry: Many companies prohibit their employee to download and install software illegally into work computer. You may require approval from IT department before using it. What if the software that you wanted is blacklisted.

No Worry: For instance, instant messaging software such as Yahoo, MSN, AOL or Gtalk. You can easily download and use it but for some cases, installing it is not a problem but connecting it, is a problem. This is because IT department block the access use by these instant messaging software. But this does not stop you from chatting with your friends and colleagues. You can use web based service which you can access almost all instant messaging available in the market, meebo.com or ebuddy.com. There's also Google Inc.'s instant-messaging service, Google Talk, accessible at Google.com/talk.

To access actual software programs on your computer. You can download the software onto a portable device like an iPod or a USB stick, through a service called Portable Apps (PortableApps.com). Then hook the device up to your work computer, and you're ready to go. To keep you stay safe, some antivirus automatically detect any outside devices hook on to the computer and scan for potential threat, to avoid antivirus from leaving trace into your computer you can actually disabled the function which is normally in options or settings menu. Likewise, if you use a file-sharing service, set it up so that others can't access your own files, also through an Options or Settings area.

3) How to visit block sites
Your Worry: Most companies will block employee from visiting certain web sites, the reason could be high bandwidth usage which could affect network traffic or affect company image. The most popular block sites are porn sites, gambling sites and web-based email services. Some company also block access to youtube.com or metacafe.com.

No Worry: No matter what sites they block it, you can still find your way to sneak onto them. You travel to a third-party site, called a proxy, and type the Web address you want into a search box. Your company will only know that you had access the proxy website but they will never know within what web sites you had access using the proxy, because the proxy site travels to the site you want and displays it for you — so you can see the site without actually visiting it. Proxy.org, for one, features a list of more than 4,000 proxies. Alternative you can use vtunnel.com or securechannel.com.

Another trick to accomplish the same thing is use Google's translation service, asking it to do an English-to-English translation. Just enter this — Google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.blockedsite.com — replacing "blockedsite.com" with the Web address of the site you want to visit. Google effectively acts as a proxy, calling up the site for you.

Please keep this in mind that you may only use proxy sites or tunnel to access blocked sites and not all your surfing as information will travel to third party site before hitting the actual site you are visiting.

4) Keeping privacy using web email and instant messaging
Your Worry: Companies nowadays have ability to track employee internet usage behavior, they can monitor your work or personal email and also your IM chat conversations. Reason behind is to catch any employee leaking confidential information to outsider. If you do not believe, these tools (MSN or Yahoo Sniffer) can easily download from the internet and use, Yahoo Sniffer and MSN Sniffer.

No Worry: To keep privacy using email, encrypt them. You can do that with outlook, so that only you and recipient can read the email and no others. In Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, then Options and choose the Security tab. There, you can enter a password — and nobody can open a note from you without supplying it and of course, you'll have to inform the recipient the password.

For your personal email which is usually web-based email, use this trick, whenever you access to your web-based email login page, add an "s" to the end of the "http" in front of your email provider's Web address. For example: https://www.hotmail.com/. By using this trick, you are accessing a secure session and it is almost impossible anyone can read it except you. To date not all web services are supporting this yet.

For instant messaging, try using Trillian where it has the ability to encrypt your conversations without anyone reading it except the recipient. Trillian is a proprietary multiprotocol instant messaging application for Windows created by Cerulean Studios that can connect to multiple IM services, such as AIM, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Bonjour, Jabber, and Skype networks.

If you still want to remains using your Instant Messaging software instead of multiprotocol instant messaging, try using Secway IM encryption software which install separately with your Instant Messaging. By using this, you can still use back your familiar IM application but just that there's additional application running separately to encrypt your IM conversations passing through the internet.

5) Clear traceable tracks on your computer
Your Worry: Either you use PC or laptop, but for company-owned laptop, chances are you use it for personal tasks. Many companies reserve the right to monitor all that activity, because the laptops are technically their property. What if one day someone use your computer to surf online porn and you are being caught? That's embarrassing right?

No Worry: Most browsers available in the market has the ability clear your tracks. In IE7, click on Tools, and then delete Browsing History. From there, you can either delete all your history by clicking Delete All or choose one or a few kinds of data to delete. In Firefox, just hit Ctrl-Shift-Del — or click Clear Private Data under the Tools menu. Ta da … you are safe from being traceable by your boss.

The best practices here is clear your private data as often as possible. If you really do not want your boss to know anything about, better still don't use work computer.

BONUS) Is okay to relax sometimes, how to surf while your boss thought you're working hard?
Your Worry: You are busy surfing the internet doing your own stuff and your boss turns the corner. What do you do?

No Worry: There're 2 ways to avoid this, Hit Alt-Tab to quickly minimize one window and maximize another which is word document. Or Hit Windows-D to show desktop as if you're accessing some folder, mess up your desktop as if you are busy or it's more realistic.

The risk here is, make sure your computer won't hang when making the shift. You might get caught on the spot.

Harvard university came out with a life size robotic fly which weighing only 60 miligrams in their labs and this small robotic insect finally takes off for the first time, with a wingspan of three centimeters, the tiny robot's movements are modeled on those of a real fly. Researchers say that such small flying machines could one day be used as spies, or for detecting harmful chemicals.

So small that you might not even can really notice it if it's inside your room. According to researcher, recreating a fly's efficient movements in a robot roughly the size of the real insect was difficult, Some extremely small parts can be made using the processes for creating microelectromechanical systems.

Ultimately, the team developed its own fabrication process. Using laser micromachining, researchers cut thin sheets of carbon fiber into two-dimensional patterns that are accurate to a couple of micrometers. Sheets of polymer are cut using the same process. By carefully arranging the sheets of carbon fiber and polymer, the researchers are able to create functional parts.

The interesting part is not the small size scale of the fly and takes off, what interest me is so small that it can have a camera inside, that's really amazing. Probably this could be bad if it was fallen to wrong hand. Girl next door might be in danger, however this robotic insect is still undergoing extremely research and it will not realease to public before being use by US military or US Defence.

Sophisticated ! Do you know what is FTP or SFTP? If you don't know. Wikipedia will tell you. I had just completed writing a lightweight program to automate sending file to a server after extracted some records from database.

Due to our company standard transmission required all files sent throughout internet need to be encrypted, I will need to rewrite my Java program to sent the csv file format to a LAN SFTP before it will be schedule to push to vendor. The tricky part here is Java doesn't seem to have an SFTP protocol built in. The standard Java libraries only have FTP but no SFTP. So How? Buy la … OK, you can get it at very expensive price, but company will always want you to look for something FREE or you write it yourself. Huh?

Life is so miserable, earning so little yet doing so much ! After googling for about 2 hours, I found something useful here and hopefully if you guys is looking for something like my scenario, you can try to download OPENSsh & JSch.

OpenSSH is a FREE version of the SSH connectivity tools that technical users of the Internet rely on. Users of telnet, rlogin, and ftp may not realize that their password is transmitted across the Internet unencrypted, but it is. OpenSSH encrypts all traffic (including passwords) to effectively eliminate eavesdropping, connection hijacking, and other attacks. Additionally, OpenSSH provides secure tunneling capabilities and several authentication methods, and supports all SSH protocol versions.

JSch allows you to connect to an sshd server and use port forwarding, X11 forwarding, file transfer, etc., and you can integrate its functionality into your own Java programs. JSch is licensed under BSD style license.

Finally, here is how I workaround with my finding and the requirement. The reason I installed Openssh is for me to do testing locally. Installing and configuring Openssh is very easy, everything is clearly written in readme, all you need is just remember to start the services manually. Secondly is JSch, I use the ScpTo.java sample and modified it to include into my JAVA program. Everything looks fine and I don't even need to put extra effort to rewrite everything.

This post is solely written to Thanks JSch, Openssh and Open Source community and to help someone who is looking for solution like my case.

Thanks !

Do you experienced before forgetting your Window XP administrator password? I guess once in a blue moon that happen. Sometimes I do receive called from friends or relatives asking me about resetting their Window XP password. Since I’ve done it a few times, resetting Windows XP passwords isn’t that complicated. If you were to search on the net for keyword “forgot window XP password”, “window XP password recovery”, ” windows XP password reset” or “Window XP lost password”. Probably you’ll be listed with all kind of solutions to reset your Window XP password. Sometimes you might find yourself spending hours to look for solutions which eventually work! I’ve gone through that cycle. I mean I’ve tried several others method till I get one which is actually working for me. Some do works, but those required purchasing their software which is quite pricey, however if you plenty of time, you might be able to get some crack for those software but that’s not recommended, since I want something free and easy. I guess I will need more time to trial and error the method I’ve searched. Here’s the method I’ve been talking about  Offline NT Password & Registry Editor.

If you already knew about the method and have a much easier approach for this, please leave a comment so that I and others could possibly appreciate your generosity in sharing. However, if you’re looking for one, take my words and try this method, it might works for you as well, else if you are not in needy to reset Window XP password, try to bookmark the URL which could probably help you or someone you know who might need it one day.

However if you aren't so techie, you might find it a bit hard to catch up, if you would like to spend some penny in solving the problem. Try to lookup for this tools I found in youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4VSdE2chHM

If somehow none is working for you and in this extreme case, you might probably need to format your Windows XP and perform a clean installation, if you got very important files or data which you can't format. Try installing another Windows XP inside and once installed, access using the new Windows XP and backup your file, format and install a completely clean installation of Windows XP all over again. Alternatively if you do not want to completely install Windows XP over again, try to erase the old version of Windows XP in boot.ini and delete old Windows XP System folder (This is quite messy but can save you time reinstalling from fresh).

Probably some people just hate blog to be posted to digg.com or could be someone just doesn’t like millionringgithomepage.com. However I emailed to digg.com to clarify why my site was banned. I get feedback as quote below.

Feedback from Digg.com:

When submitted stories are consistently reported as spam and users complain via our feedback email about submission spam, we ban the domain. The domain will not be unbanned. The domain would consistently get reported as spam otherwise.

Fair enough, guess Digg just don't like my site. I wonder since when I posted spam as I only selected content I find it useful to post to digg. I guess it might be a lesson for me to learn and somehow it could be more Digg around. After this incident happens, I goggling around the web and find out I’m not alone; a lot of sites do get banned due to reported as spam. Anyhow, I'm not sure why this could happen and why I didn't realized it earlier. Till then, I hope this post could warn you not to simply post content to digg.com or else your site will get ban as well. Somehow it could be your reader or you. But please bear in mind no matter who posted the content to digg and if they receive anyone reported your site as spam; they will just ban it without any notification. Worst still, it cannot be unbanned forever.

Hell Yeah, I love Google because I wish my site could be placed first for certain high competitive keywords. However, if you ask me, how much I know about Google? Well, I guess everyone know Google is a Search Engine, and some blogger, internet marketer or webmaster should know about Google Adsense or Google Adwords. Apart from search engine, Google do provide some good tools such as Google Desktop, Google Earth and Google Toolbar which I’m using it now. Other than that, I don’t know much.

Millionringgithomepage.com is a tech blog? Well, I am not sure, because I was blogging what I was doing recently and will post whatever I find interesting to share it in here. I don’t have an exact theme for the blog, it’s just about anything.

Do you have an internet camera? Do you broadcast it to be publicly access by the world?, How do you know it is publicly access by others or not?. I do have a webcam. After watching the movie clips by fox news. I started to grab my webcam manual and see whether there is any function to allow it to be access through a web browser. Ha, lucky it was a cheap one, that’s why, is not rich in function. Sometimes is good to have cheap thing.

After watching the clips, my hands feel a bit itching to test it out how to hack internet camera. Seem like the fox news clip is showing us how to hack instead of stopping such behavior.

After pausing and replay the video a few times. I spotted some technique use in the clips. It’s using a Google advanced search operator “inurl”.

I spotted “inurl:/view/index.shtml” and “inurl:/DCS900/Aview.html”. So, I just make a quick search through Google and as a conclusion, most sites are password locked or those if you can view which is eventually ready to be publicly view and Google just can’t find “inurl:/DCS900/Aview.html”. Ermm…maybe Google has taken out the search for “inurl:/DCS900/Aview.html”. Guess I miss the fun. For your information DCS 900 is a DLink network camera, most people just bought it and broadcast it without changing the administrator default password, therefore it can be easily access and being index by Google.

I guess that just for DLINK DCS900, how about other brand? I didn't really check it up, however if you think you are at risk. Just do some Google search operator using inurl.

To me, I think it is because I don’t have an IPOD and I can play my favorite music of my choice in office; this will be good for people that do not have admin rights to installed winamp or any mp3 player to their office PC or your company does not allow you to installed any application without management approval into your office PC/laptop due to security reason like my case. So, with radio blog on your site or blog, you now can listen to your favorite music of your choice without breaking any company rules.

Instead of that, it’s more than just an IPOD, you don’t have to carry anything, with a Computer/PDA/PDA Phone internet access, and you can listen to your favorite music anytime and anywhere. Or you could put it on your website or blog to attract more visitors to listen to your favorite song.

Above is just an assumption of mine about why radio blog is so cool and could be the reason many people is searching for it. It could be other reasons.

Are you ready to install one? If yes, please visit here or here to learn how to get one and install. The good thing about radio blog is that it’s not using MP3 file format, where else it uses RBS format which is compress from MP3 file format to a much smaller size to stream faster through internet without significant drop-off in quality (If convert using Convert64.bat).

Find it too technical? No worry, there is , you can listen to any of your favourite song online. You even can create and save your own playlist. Maybe it's nothing new, if you doesn't know about it, check it out. You will love it.

Blogmusik.net is a site where you can create your own playlist list and save it to listen over and over again online through a browser with supported flash. In order to create and save a playlist, you will need to register as a member of the website, however if you would like to just listen to the song, no registration is required. It's just look like an IPOD and surprisingly, what kind of music you search for, it's there. That's interesting; I personally try to search for linkin park, eminem or pussy cat dolls. It's all there. Try yourself and get amazed.
